Q2 Journal: Materials - Special Issue: Studies on Additive Manufacturing of Advanced Materials

Dear Colleagues,

During the last decade, there has been an increased interest in the use of Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies in many industrial applications and it have been identified as one of the most promising production technologies. The AM technologies were identified as a segment with high growth potential as well as high performance manufacturing and correspond to high levels of technology maturity. The AM allows the integration of various components in the printed part, such as sensors, mechanical parts and various reinforcing elements. The reinforcements can be made with polymeric or even metallic reinforcing elements.
The goal of this special issue entitled Studies on Additive Manufacturing of Advanced Materials is to share different issues in Additive Manufacturing (AM) of advanced materials whether they are metallic, ceramic or polymeric materials.
The publishes articles including but is not limited to the following topics:
-Design for Additive Manufacturing;
-Modelling and Simulation for Additive Manufacturing;
-Additive Manufacturing of Advanced Materials: Metals, Ceramics and Polymers;
-Additive Manufacturing Process Capability;
-Additive Manufacturing Characterization;
-Additive Manufacturing and Quality Control.

We kindly invite you to submit a manuscript(s) for this Special Issue. Full papers, communications, and reviews are all welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Materials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2000 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
Keywords:
• Additive Manufacturing;
• Advanced Materials;
• Modelling and Simulation;
• Process Capability;
• Characterization;

ModTech2021 International Conference - The article follows the accepted abstract

Dear Colleagues,

Due to a large number of requests and the existing pandemic situation, the Organizing Committee of ModTech2021 approved, only for this year, the principle entitled article follows the accepted abstract. Thus, between February 1 and March 10, 2021, abstracts can be submitted, and after receiving acceptance the full article must be uploaded in a maximum of 5-7 days, otherwise the abstract will not be taken into account.

Special Issue with Sustainability-MDPI "Sustainable Manufacturing Processes and Machine Tool Technology"

Dear Colleagues,

Sustainable manufacturing processes (SMP) and machine tool technology issues are extremely interesting topics nowadays that combine high performance with environmental conscious design and manufacturing. A number of issues from the design process, the machining processes to the manufacturing mechanisms are involved and the researchers are able to explore different aspects of SMPs and simulation tools. Conventional and non-conventional manufacturing can be used together under the sustainability umbrella. Simulation based optimisation can offer considerable benefits towards an environmentally friendly way of life.

Computer Aided Manufacturing has gone far beyond than just creating CNC codes. Optimisation tools for machining trajectories for peculiar geometries, simulation tools based on a variety of principles and linear/nonlinear finite element methodologies applied, lead to more sustainable design and manufacturing results.

This Special Issue provides an opportunity for researchers to present recent advances and technologies in the aforementioned fields and indicate the future trends for sustainability in manufacturing and tooling technologies.

Suitable topics for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to:

Machinability
Conventional and Non-conventional manufacturing processes
Manufacturing processes simulations
Simulations for sustainability
CNC Trajectory optimisation
Quality engineering
CAD/CAM/CAE
Precision machining
Circular economy
Sustainable Industry 4.0,
Autonomous and collaborative robots
Cloud manufacturing
Manufacturing and design optimisation
Soft computing (neural networks, deep learning etc)
Additive manufacturing
Sustainable design and manufacturing
Automotive and Aerospace applications

Special Issue of Machines-MDPI "Industry 4.0 for the Fashion Industry"

Dear friends,

The fashion industry is one of the most important industries with a substantial economic effect worldwide and continuing research and investments in various related sectors. These investments include the use of advanced technologies, which refine, accelerate, improve quality, and raise profitability for stakeholders. Recently, the main innovations have been focused on both sustainable products and processes, due to the fashion industries high contribution to pollution. As part of Industry 4.0, 3D printing technology, the Internet of things (IoT), virtual and augmented reality, artificial intelligence, simulation, etc. offer considerable opportunities by transforming the traditional methods of product design, manufacturing, marketing, and sales. Not only has design and manufacturing changed, but also the fabrics. Smart textiles are becoming a more viable option and their applicability is growing. Each of them is shaping the future of the fashion industry by creating both new opportunities within specific sectors and new challenging demands.

This Special Issue will bring together recent advances of Industry 4.0 for the fashion industry, which is seen as a key element in the transformation and future of this industry.
