ModTech 2023 International Conference - Brief Overview

The ModTech Professional Association, Technical Sciences Academy of Romania and Politehnica University of Bucharest organized the 11th edition of the ModTech2023 International Conference, as hybrid one, between June 14-17, Continental Forum Hotel, Bucharest, Romania.

The Co-Organizers of the ModTech2023 International Conference, mentioned on the official website, were involved in the organization of this edition, which was intended to be a first step towards the return to normality, that is, an intermediate step towards the return to the onsite organization of the next edition.

The ModTech Professional Association currently has more than 420 members from Romania and abroad and 13 branches in Australia, Greece, Spain, Malaysia, India, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Iraq, Poland, Turkey, Serbia, and Republic of Moldova.

The ModTech2023 International Conference had a hybrid form due to both the still existence of the pandemic and the existing regional context. For the authors who preferred to present their papers online, the existing online platform was used and to familiarize participants with how to operate on this platform was developed and submitted in pdf format - ModTech2023_Online_User_Guide. The onsite and online participants of the 11th edition were from 21 countries.

The Octavian Pruteanu excellence award was awarded during the opening ceremony to Prof. Loredana Santo, Tor Vergata University of Rome, Italy, Prof.Bozo Smoljan, University North, Koprivnica, Croatia, and prof. Gabriel Frumusanu, Dunarea de Jos University of Galati, Romania.

For the second time, the following awards were given by ModTech Professional Association as follows:

-Best Scientific Article: Andrzej Katunin et al., Modeling of a realistic barely visible impact damage in composite structures based on NDT techniques and numerical simulations, Composite structures, Elsevier, 2021.

-Most Performing Young Researcher: Kyriaki Evangelia Aslani, Thessaliko IEK Giatsos, Volos, Greece.

-Best Book: The books received did not pass the judging committee this year

The papers presented by the participants both during the two plenary sessions and in the different sections tackled the following topics: manufacturing process engineering; breakthroughs concerning composite materials and technologies; mechanical process characterization, modeling and simulation; integrated manufacture and robotics; technology transfer; micro and nanotechnologies; maritime engineering.
